A flash mob can most often be described as a phenomenon that happens quickly, as a random group begins dancing together in a public place and without more reason than as entertainment. But the flash mob to take place in Fayetteville, Ark. this weekend, and brainchild of Dr. Eve Agee and Jeanette DePatie, takes on a much greater meaning for thousands of aging women.
The Hot Flash Mob is the worldwide, synchronized dance movement that launched in early September as a way of honoring the National Menopause Awareness month, and has continued into October, the International Menopause Awareness month.
The planned flash mob, choreographed to a “hot Latin beat,” was formed as a way of empowering women while they approach or endure the stresses associated with peri-menopause and menopause.
Dr. Agee, an international bestselling author and personal transformation expert, hopes that this event will help women make this transition easier.
“We think all women deserve to feel great and celebrate this stage of life,” she said. “We want every woman to know there are many safe, effective lifestyle measures that we can take before and during peri-menopause and menopause to make this transition easier and feel our best.”
Her colleague, DePatie, is a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer who has helped hundreds of people learn to love their bodies. Also known as “The Fat Chick,” DePatie believes this stage of a woman’s life is something to be celebrated.
“Women of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities deserve to feel powerful, beautiful and connected,” she said. “We want women of all ages to get out there and announce to the world, ‘I’m menopausal, and baby, I’m hot!’”
The grass-roots, non-profit flash mob is expected to begin at 9:15 A.M. on Saturday, October 20th, at the Fayetteville Farmer’s market. It will last approximately 15 minutes. According to Dr. Agee, the Hot Flash Mob is to be followed by a special announcement.
The Hot Flash Mob will be one of many orchestrated by Dr. Agee and DePatie that have occurred across the country since September 7th.
